Right before Jesus went to die on the cross, he spent spent significant time in prayer. In John 17, we learn what he prayed about. He prayed for himself, his disciples, and the believers who would come after him (that’s us!). Today we’ll see Jesus in a completely vulnerable place, and learn much of his love for us and the world.
Rusty teaches on John 15 and explains how we can do nothing without Christ. The secret to bearing fruit in our Christian walk is not trying harder to be better, but resting in Him.
Rusty speaks more about the blind man that Jesus healed. While it is possible to grow in knowledge, but not grow in grace; it is impossible to grow in grace and not grow in knowledge of Christ. Three different groups learn that the man was given sight, but only the man himself truly believed!
During this time of Christ’s ministry, following Jesus meant excommunication from the temple. When Jesus heals a blind man, he must consider if he will follow Jesus, which could mean being disowned by his family and community. Following Christ has a cost, but it is always worth it!
Today we look at the story of Lazarus, the man who died and was raised to life again by Christ. Before his resurrection, however, there was great sorrow in his family. Christ was their true comfort, and he is our comfort as well.
